The Australian Government has committed $31 million over 5 years to provide a reimbursement of $400 per Prosthesis Breast Form for women whom have had a mastectomy as a result of Breast Cancer.

This program is to ensure the national consistency in the provision of support towards the cost of your Breast Prosthesis.

CLAIMING
You can claim your reimbursement for your new or replacement Breast Prosthesis.  All women who are permanent residents of Australia who have a current Medicare entitlement card and have had a mastectomy or lumpectomy as a result of Breast Cancer are eligible to claim the reimbursement of up to $400 per Prosthesis Breast Form.

There are no time frames as to when you have had your surgery, you are eligible for the rebate every 2 years.

Other items such as Lingerie and Swimwear are not covered by Medicare, however your private health provider may offer you a rebate for these extras.
